According to the US EIA, carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions from electricity generation totaled 1,925 million metric tons in 2015, the lowest since 1993 and 21% below their 2005 level. Overall, emissions tended to rise between 1990 and 2007, when they gradually began to fall, with 2015 at the lowest levels depicted on the graph.
