In classical spatial point pattern analysis, standard statistical concepts are applied to the description and assessment of spatial point patterns, using the concept of a spatial process. The essential idea is to compare observed patterns on maps (i.e., what we see in the world) to the patterns we expect based on some model of a spatial process. In this lesson, you will examine spatial patterns created using a variety of methods and then examine some real spatial data to better understand what processes might be driving different spatial patterns.
